@Sheer__Opulence This is what many fail to understand. Miami is a different ball game too. Every CO I knew always knew the opportunities from working that job
If you work in an air conditioned office where your job is mostly responding to emails and putting numbers in excel, but you are still complaining, you have completely lost the plot
People in your blood line would have killed each other for that job, instead of having to slave away with physical labor on a farm land or factory where there was no safety regulations
You literally won the ovarian lottery of being born in this age, and you still complain. Pathetic
I turned 43 today. Random reflections on life right now:
- 40s it becomes so evident life is a choose-your-own-adventure and people's choices are coming home to roost. I have friends just getting married and having their first kid this year, some that are already about to be empty nesters with kids going off to college, some with no kids still acting immature like they're in their 20's. Some look old and have really let their health and looks deteriorate (look 50's+ in their early 40's), while some look 20 years younger and are getting absolutely jacked and the best shape of their lives.
- your network > your net worth seems to be becoming more true
- having good health, a loving family, a stable marriage, a business you where you can write your own financial destiny to some extent, and a supportive group of close friends all looking out for one another = real wealth
- I still want more actual cash money quite badly despite what I just typed above 😅 (with 4 kids going quickly towards college years and most of my financial net worth tied up in illiquid SMB equity... how to help them with braces, cars, schooling, weddings, etc. as they grow is indeed financially intimidating)
- you can do anything but you can't do everything. very important to pick your battles at this phase of life. I gave up Aviation the last 2 years and quite a bit of freedom by bringing on investors and partners so I'm now a minority owner of my main biz instead of majority/control like I used to... but I gained a new passion in health/fitness and biz partners and biz model that has the potential to go 100-1000X bigger than I could have done on my own. These were big decisions and I'm thinking they were the right ones. Choose your games you're going to play wisely. Pick your battles wisely. Pick 1-3 things that matter and devote yourself to winning at them- don't half-ass a bunch of major things and win at none of them.
- having a bunch of kids was one of the best decisions ever. you can't have too many. have more if you can. they give life so much more meaning, depth, and fun and give you endless things to look forward to and keep you young.
- I need to be a better husband. been an absolute bull in a China shop sometimes with my poor wife and just totally didn't understand a woman's mind and world. Been feeling deep conviction for all my mistakes and ways I've wounded the most important person in the world to me. lucky to still be married tbh. need to make my marriage and how I treat my wife a huge priority going forward and hopefully become the husband to her she deserves. just not there yet, but I feel like I'm at least aware enough now that I can give it proper importance and make changes.
- living publicly like I do on the internet, sharing my thoughts and life with thousands of people is super weird, but I still think the pros are worth the cons... in a weird way it feels like my ministry/calling, to live out loud and "go for it" as a normal dude with a somewhat humble start in life, that's ambitious, just trying to follow God, build a family, and take over the world in business, while having fun and growing in all areas along the way. the notes I get from people that have made positive changes to their lives because they were inspired by something I shared is very meaningful to me.
- I am getting less and less judgmental of others as I age as my awareness of my own faults and failings has humbled me in so many areas. I am also getting less and less tolerant of people's BS when the behavior of others negatively impacts my world or someone I care about. I'm quicker to speak up and stand up for myself and push back. this seems at-odds to the non-judgmental thing... but I think the difference is I don't care about what people are doing if it's not affecting me, but I nip stuff in the bud real quick now that does.
- I've been way too hard on myself- downright mean and cruel to myself, for most of my life. A big part of my failing to love others well stems from the root of failing to love myself. "Love your neighbor as yourself" doesn't work if you hate yourself. Working on this. We could all probably be more kind to ourselves.
- getting a lot more fit the last 2 years has improved about every aspect of my life including my confidence and self-esteem and is helping me with the point above quite a bit. it's nice having such a tangible thing you can see in the mirror every day in the form of a transformed body that shows yourself you've really worked on yourself to make a positive change that's undeniable
Got a meeting to jump to so I'm stopping here for now.
Want to thank you all that read this random rambling for being part of my life in some small way, even if you're just observing and rarely interacting, that's still cool. Feel free to let me know if anything resonated with you and where you're at on your journey.
Blessings, Clint
@melaninglamour Imagine that she had to take the time to setup her phone each time. Could have easily made an appt to sit in an office with the banker and taken care of it privately. Then again, she doesn’t look too bright.
@WallStreetApes What’s this have to do with the average person? Why do they have to share the stuff from their job with us? They’re the definition of unskilled labor yet they make great money. I’m surprised it took UPS so long to do this. Figure it out like the rest of us with jobs.
@theficouple The HGTV effect is real. Everyone’s broke bc they can’t just stay in one damn home. I love seeing the fallout from this type of living and love seeing people be broke and struggle because of these lifestyle choices.
@MHTruthUltra Start fighting back by NOT buying these things. If you change your consumption habits the market will adapt. They count on people being weak and taking it.
@PhillyJanet You just didn’t recognize it as your baseline was not a few years. As you got older and got used to AC, everything after that without AC now feels hot
@FiSurgi Nah gotta use the personalization settings and have a default setting for it to. It bullshit you. Tell it to give you specific replies. It work’s wonders
