It's been a ride (15 years!) on this app, y'all. Thanks to all for the engagement & tolerance of my nonsense, & shout-out to Elon for destroying everything good here. I look forward to seeing many of you on Bluesky!
In the words of Anthony Davis - that's all, folks!

This is going to sound like an insult but I mean it as a compliment. Murray seems like someone who can be an a**hole when needed. The Pelicans are full of low key guys, and I think they desperately need someone that can make people uncomfortable. I think this is good. -MP
My total guess here is that this signals BI not being traded or that the trade package for him does not include a legit starting center and is more pick based. Total guess. -MP
My take: as it stands with BI still here, there are at 6 guys already who should be playing 33ish min a night. Jose should be 20ish. That’s already 218 min of 240 when healthy.
Pels don’t need a great center so badly to overpay or overcommit to one now. -MP
Free agent C Daniel Theis has agreed on a one-year deal with the New Orleans Pelicans, sources tell ESPN. Theis, who’s entering his eighth NBA season, will lead Germany into the Summer Olympics.
Obviously if BI goes, calculations change and swap for good center becomes more important / valuable. But even in that case I think there is merit to not overcommitting bc there is a hole at C. You can have serviceable center and be great if the rest of roster is legit. -MP
The Pelicans imo have a fairly hard deadline with regards to action and that deadline is August 6. The Pelicans have to decide if the are extending BI by that date for him to be trade eligible at the trade deadline.
IMO would be a disaster to go into season without extension
The Hornets make sense (in interest), but surprised at San Antonio. Would think they want more guys to move the ball with Wemby being as good as he is already. -MP
The Spurs and Hornets are among teams showing interest in Brandon Ingram, per @AmicoHoops
“Sources have told Hoops Wire that the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets have emerged as potential Ingram suitors, as have the Atlanta Hawks, who will soon officially move guard Dejounte Murray to New Orleans. Perhaps that trade could be expanded if the Hawks are truly that interested in Ingram.”

@Mario_E_Jerez No clue. I barely ever post anything anymore, mostly just use the site account during heavy transaction seasons in NBA. Can't speak for others. -MP
But see he was WILLING to take less.
(For the record, zero problems if a player chases the biggest bag possible, I just get so sick and tired of the whole Twitter mouthpiece game this time of year.)
One of the biggest issues I said last season with the Pels is that they have a lot of guys every team wants but it’s just too many of the same kind of role players.
Well, a lot of those guys are gone now. And they got paid by someone.
