Our new work is now available on arXiv! We give an optimal-query algorithm for time-dependent Hamiltonian simulation, showing that simulating time-dependent Hamiltonians incurs no additional query overhead compared with the time-independent setting.

The core proof ideas in this paper were largely developed with the assistance of large language models. The authors then refined the ideas, verified the arguments, and rewrote the presentation. Many thanks to all my collaborators for their support and contributions!
R.I.P. Dilbert’s RNG monster. With a quantum computer, you *can* be sure.
TL;DR: A publicly verifiable witness that a number really came from a distribution with high min-entropy.

We updated eprint and recovered part of our result. Specifically, we give a secure instantiation of the Fiat-Shamir transformation in the Micali SNARG! This is the first instantiation of Micali in the plain model (wo/ oracle) and refutes any universal attack on this framework.
To build up the characterization, we show that EFI can be used to construct single-copy pseudorandom state (1PRS), which might be of independent interest.

Wow- treating a hash function as if it’s random is standard in cryptography. We always knew that it is not 100% theoretically justified and there were works (also by me) with contrived counter examples. This is the first time there is an attack on a standard protocol that’s implemented in practice. It is only on adaptive soundness but in crypto attacks only get better.
