Many don’t realize that the first people Hitler sent to his concentration camps weren’t everyday Jewish citizens, but his political opponents. So, when Trump rants about retribution, locking up his opponents, and giving them “very long sentences,” I can’t help but take him seriously… because history teaches us that is what fascist dictators do during their “Day One” period to consolidate their power. (After all, if you’re hellbent on staying in power but aren’t likely to win the next election, you can’t have your political opponents running around free.)

Yesterday was the 110th @CFL #GreyCup! When you hear the term blitz you probably think of football, but the Canadian Wildlife Federation (@CWF_FCF) and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (@NCC_CNC) use Bioblitzes to help determine the health of an ecosystem. A Bioblitz is a participatory search for species within a limited area and a limited timeframe that takes a "snapshot" of as many living things as possible. Biodiversity - literally the variety of life - is an indicator that an area is ecologically stable and healthy. Through use of the @inaturalist Canada app, the species records are compiled into a single data set to help researchers, scientists and policy-makers to help them make informed decisions about wildlife management.
