@TheRyanHollins@KendrickPerkins crunch time basketball is about maximizing offensive possessions - hunting for mismatches and creating high efficiency scoring opportunities. Melo is one of the bests at doing those things. He knows how to get buckets.
@conradburry love your work, have been following your feed for a while. Curious to read your NBA Europa thesis. Also, would like to begin conversations regarding a design for my soon to open AAU club. Can we chat via email?
@CostaRica79 RJ Hunter was a first rounder that was wildly overrated. Yet he still made good money for 2 years in the NBA where as others his age had to work harder to find their places. You earn your keep in the league. Being drafted guarantees you get a 2 year shot.
@CostaRica79 Do you think Anthony Bennet is upset there was a draft? He wasn’t an NBA caliber talent yet he still got paid like a number 1 pick. If there was no draft he might’ve never made the league. The draft helps a team mitigate risk, yes...but a lot of guys have benefited nonetheless.
@CostaRica79 Draft benefits both sides. Owners get first right to claim player. Player in return gets a guaranteed contract for 2 years. If you don’t get drafted, you can negotiate your own deal but it might not be as big as a draftees nor fully guaranteed. Drafted = job protection.
@CostaRica79 @ChuckShots@bomani_jones Is the NBPA membership pushing on this issue? Are they seeking a new process? We know most negotiations are about money and in lieu concessions must be made; But collectively I doubt the membership cares that much this issue? Like any union, most are just happy to have a job.
@CostaRica79 @ChuckShots@bomani_jones Maybe the conversation should be moved to the NBPA? To play in the NBA, you must join the players union. As long as they’re the representative of labor, their members will have to follow whatever rules are collectively bargained.
@bomani_jones I’m with you re: Texas. I’ve been waiting for this offense to turn the corner for years - Hernan, the youthful play calling genius, didn’t live up to his reputation. Inheriting a top-10 defense is what kept them in a majority of their games...lots of work left to do
