Science is woven with the fabric of math and literacy. We sometimes forget how important literacy is and then don't understand why our students might not understand us. Literacy is key to being able to learn. #edr321
If we can give our students the motivation to want to learn something, they will almost always make sure they learn it with or without our help. The key is instilling that motivation. #edr321
@MrEngelsman I enjoyed the read of the article about lesson plans. It's interesting that many of the online tasks for new teachers have no impact and mostly take up time. #EDT370
@JustinPippel Would it then be more beneficial to provide the students with reading so that we can make sure it challenges them and pushes them to grow, or would it be better to allow them to choose their readings as to keep interest levels high? #EDT370
Wow, we could actually be hurting ourselves and making it harder for us to help our students using empathy! This is some interesting stuff. #EDT370 https://t.co/gjjMQ1LyTd
#Educators are often those who are empathetic. Translating to #compassion could help decrease the #stress associated with being highly empathetic. https://t.co/GSY1TgLZBt
The success is what we see, but some of the best parts (and worst) are hidden beneath the surface. We get the opportunity to influence those. #EDT370 https://t.co/K8RzoVBpwj
Mastery learning not only has impacts within a subject, but has cross disciplinary implications as well. If we don't focus on literacy mastery, for example, a student might fail to develop a correct understanding of a scientific concept. #edr321
From analyzing student work, I can see that even when a student incorrectly answers a question, they can apply the correct concept but use the wrong terms to do it. #edr321
