A reintroduction! Or maybe this is your first time meeting us—don’t be shy in that case, say hi! #branchoutforjustice is a locally-based, globally connected movement of youth mobilizing our voices and power to shape our lives, communities, and futures🌍
Today, we vote for our brighter future. Medicare for All. A Green New Deal. A true living wage. Reinstating federal workers. Abolishing ICE. A moratorium on data centers. All without taking a cent of corporate PAC money.
I am so grateful to every single person who committed their time, their money, and their faith to this campaign. And to anyone still making up their mind about who you'll cast a ballot for, or doubting whether you should vote at all: we welcome you. This brighter future is for you.
I am heartbroken to learn that Ofelia, my 16-year-old constituent with cancer whose father was taken from her at a Home Depot, passed away.
Even as Ofelia fought cancer, she also fought to bring her father home and ensured that he would no longer have to live in fear in the shadows. She taught us what love, hope, and resolve look like.
My condolences to her family and loved ones. Ofelia is an inspiration. May we carry her light with us as we fight for all our loved ones who must be released.
🇵🇸 The last Columbia University protester still in ICE detention, Leqaa Kordia, describes conditions inside the Texas facility where she has been held for the past nine months.
KORDIA: “Right now, we’re 87 people and the capacity is 37. A lot of people are sleeping on the floor.”
“Another word for this place is a big bathroom. It’s open. Everything is open. There’s no privacy.”

A judge has twice ordered Kordia’s release. Both times, the government appealed, accusing her of supporting Hamas. Kordia has denied that in court.
She told her cousin:
“I came to America looking for freedom and freedom of speech - freedom of everything. You know what I mean? To be held here in this place for saying - free Palestine, ceasefire now - that was, kind of a shock to me 'cause that's not the America that I heard of.”
🎥 NPR shared the audio from a recent call between Kordia and her cousin, Hamzah Abushaban, who speaks to her nearly every day.
This deeply intimate report on how Israeli surveillance technology has reshaped Palestinian life by @mrmhawish is absolutely gutting https://t.co/e3qpfOd0Fp
Never forget: the decisions Washington makes about health care are a matter of life and death.
I will never stop fighting to prevent 15 million Americans from losing their coverage under Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — and neither should my Democratic colleagues.
After pleading not guilty in the Broadview, IL protest conspiracy case, Cook County commissioner candidate @CatSharpforcook says the charges against her will not silence her.
"I personally have had to look through abandoned vehicles in my neighborhood to identify those abducted by ICE, only to find out some are single parents whose young children are now alone. At Broadview, detainees are denied access to attorneys, food, and showers, and are forced to sleep in crowded rooms on concrete floors next to overflowing toilets. We are seeing the Trump administration violate our human rights."
"These criminal charges will not silence us from speaking out against this injustice. Our neighbors, our city and our country cannot afford our silence. Today and always, we stand together."
After pleading not guilty in the Broadview, IL protest conspiracy case, congressional candidate @KatAbughazaleh says the case is not about her or the other defendants but those who speak out against the Trump administration.
"This case is not just about me or the others charged with me. This is about everyone who has been resilient in our neighborhoods as they are invaded by ICE and CBP. Everyone who speaks out despite fear. That resilience will not be broken because we know we have a moral responsibility to exercise our First Amendment rights and speak out against injustice and what is happening to our neighbors."
Chile's presidential race pits Communist Jeannette Jara Román against far-right José Antonio Kast, son of a Nazi. Voters head to polls on November 16 to decide between sharply opposing visions for the country.

Our reporters interviewed 40 of the men the Trump administration sent to a notorious prison in El Salvador: They described being beaten, sexually assaulted by guards and driven to the brink of suicide. https://t.co/goHi1Kbgkq
A beautiful moment to end the day. Graduates from Al-Aqsa University in Gaza celebrate and applaud their professor, the one who inspired and encouraged them to keep going and reach graduation despite the genocide
There is no ceasefire. It's a lie.
More than 200 Palestinians have been killed by the Israeli government since Trump claimed a ceasefire was achieved. The Israeli government never even stopped bombing Lebanon. They are still committing war crimes.

Zohran Mamdani built an anti-loneliness campaign. He met voters who were attached to screens, isolated from the pandemic, spiritually unmoored — and got them out of the house, because the political, to them, was personal. W/ the wonderful @boreskes https://t.co/OY4OggShp8
26 billionaires spent over $22 million to defeat @ZohranKMamdani. They lost.
Why? Because regular people came together around an agenda that prioritized making life easier for more people. It beat big money.
That is how we win.
Starting at 1% in the polls, @ZohranKMamdani pulled off one of the great political upsets in modern American history.
Yes. We CAN create a government that represents working people and not the 1%.
I look forward to working with Zohran as he builds a city that works for all.
“We are in an emergency. Right now, the answer to authoritarianism isn’t to be quiet."
