I am a research bioinformatician, cryptographer and computer scientist and I will say a lot of papers are word salad even in the fields that I I have expertise in

One of the best examples of this is in cryptography.

vast numbers of papers are published in quantum security

but very few are published about securing from artificial intelligence attacks

and yet only one of those attacks is real

it's easy to publish papers when there is no metric

when there's nothing to defend against then there's no need to prove that your system works

publishing in the land of theory is exactly where cryptographers and sociologists and everybody who doesn't want to actually get things done ... loves to live
