quoting @Seth_W19
"since Thursday the Yankees are hitting .094 vs opposing starting pitching.
Jim Abbott was a career .095 hitter. He didn't have a right hand"
“Do you ever really win at baseball?”
Ultimate bar. College Baseball coaches are by far the best coaches amongst college athletics.
They give real answers to real questions, much less drama & there are unlimited life takeaways to help young men grow
Shoutout to this dude, who when given the chance to watch an all time great player hit a tough shot just a few feet away, chose to watch it with his own damned eyes, instead of all the jerkoffs who watched it through their phones. He’s the hero we need but don’t deserve.
JUCO isn’t a backup plan. It’s a launchpad.
Most players get this wrong.
JUCO eliminates wannabes. You either grow or you get passed up.
Here’s the reality:
• Coaches recruit: Portal → JUCO → High School
• You get real reps (400+ ABs, 100+ innings)
• You become tougher, more accountable, more reliable
• Your value goes UP after being tested
I’ve coached D1 and played pro… JUCO is where separation happens...on and off the field.
Play the Long Game. PTLG.

How bad do you want it??

Assuming this was purely a baseball decision... incredible what is happening in college athletics.
GCU finished 1st in the WAC and won 37 games in Gregg's first season. Then finished 1st and won 36 games and went to a regional in his second season. Then finished 3rd with 31 wins last year. Now off to a tough start in 2026 and he gets fired in March.
And this is mid-major college baseball.
Head coach fired, mid-season, after 1 year of poor performance at a school who is now in a conference that has only ever had ONE school make it to a Super Regional in it's 25 year history (TCU, no longer a member).
So GCU has awesome facilities/resources and should be good. Let's not forget that the current number 1 ranked team in the country went to the CWS last year, and the year prior to that they went 19-33!
The standards and expectations within athletic departments are skyrocketing. Outside influence from donors/boosters is at an all-time high. Coach turnover & player turnover are at an all-time high.
It is very difficult to build a "program" in today's landscape if the expectation is to win every year.
You're not building for the future. You're hunting for a roster of talent that will win TODAY, and then doing the same thing again next year, and the next, and the next.
This is a huge reason why rosters are getting older and older. Many coaches don't have time to wait for players to become impactful. They'd prefer you develop elsewhere and they'll recruit you after you've proven it.
And no, I don't know all of the details here. Maybe there is more to the story.
People in high school baseball still don't get it. They celebrate a pitcher throwing 90 mph and giving up runs vs. a pitcher throwing 84 mph and giving up no runs. I'll take the no runs guy every time.
This is awesome.
Clemson baseball has a tradition of players going up in the stands during the 4th inning to shake hands with Veterans.
Today, on opening day, the Army baseball team joined in with them
