There is no mystery.
We go abroad ourselves and enjoy towns and villages that feel authentic, are staffed by locals and serve food and drinks at great prices.
You holiday where you can experience a country.
We had a fantastic tourism product. Ireland was a feeling, an immersion in something slower, unspoiled and authentic. The people had a way about them. We welcomed Americans and British in their droves. Then we turned on the Brits during Brexit and our media is at war with half of the US population.
We closed hotels, turned them into IPAS centres, gave up on public order and charged a fortune for everything. Ireland is less friendly, ruder, dirtier and more expensive country than almost anywhere else.
Dublin is feral and feels unsafe.
It is pure arrogance to expect any other outcome.
I hope we can turn it around but I don’t think we can.

RUDE RUTH COPPINGER THE COP OUT: ASSAULT, HYPOCRISY & MISANDRY
With controversial commie, @RuthCoppingerSP, in the spotlight at the moment, we wanted to remind everyone of an encounter we had with her back in 2022...
It's a little rich having to listen to Irish politicians waxing lyrical about 'consumers bearing the brunt of cost' on tariffs when they all support extortionate levels of tax on petrol & diesel, which drives up transport costs for all goods, as well as 23% VAT on retail & VRT.
Instead of waiting to evaluate the drop off in Tax take from MNC USA policies , maybe #Ireland could be doing something useful and forensically examine our bloated spending.
In this video we will review the content of the Government's Implementation Plan for the EU Migration Pact, published on 26 March 2025, which also includes the alarming predicted financial costs.
The opening paragraphs of Tom Slater’s piece in Spiked:
"Male privilege. Toxic masculinity. Smash the patriarchy. A thousand dumb slogans have shaped our debate about the respective lot of men and women for the past decade or more. But this past week, the agreed-upon narrative – that essentially nothing has changed since Victoria was on the throne; that women remain as stifled and disenfranchised as ever, while men continue to lord it over them – has begun to collide with reality.” [read the complete article here: https://t.co/689pfp6uGr]
"While we were all arguing over Adolescence and Andrew Tate, a report compiled by the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) has quietly laid waste to the prevailing orthodoxy. Lost Boys: State of the Nation makes brutally clear that a lot of young British men have very little privilege to check. Males lag behind females at every stage of education, from nursery to university – in higher education, women now outnumber men by three to two. That gender pay gap you’ve heard so much about? It’s now been reversed among the young, with women out-earning men. Young men are much more likely to be unemployed, too. To those who have been paying attention, none of this will come as a surprise. But rarely has it been spelled out in such compendious, stark and irrefutable detail."
In this 2 minute video Douglas Murray explains one of the reasons why the EU and the Irish Government are hell bent on introducing the EU Migration Pact into Ireland - because the Pact repeals the Dublin III Regulations, these being the current enforceable law which would allow the Irish Government to return close on 100% of the economic migrants arriving in Ireland, to other safe European countries.
Then if you think about it, for the family, the regular Irish person who works and lives in Ireland, what does the trade off of sovereignty, its pooling, do for you, if you don’t even have the benefit of having an import duty free car made in another EU member state? One of the largest family purchases. Time to make the EU free of internal import duties. This was its most basic promise.
Ireland’s Vehicle Registration Tax is an import tariff, and an extortionate one. It means the products of other EU member states’ auto factories are made vastly more expensive when they are shipped to Ireland. That has been allowed to continue and it makes a mockery of the idea of a single market in a way that is obvious to every car buyer in Ireland.
Not in any way having a pop at the Garda here, they are enforcing the laws put in place by the Irish government. That said, this is a car made in Italy, like Ireland, a member state of the European Union. Import duties are tariffs and the most basic promise of the EU is a single market between member countries. It’s bullshit and that has to change.
“…the center-left [ Danish Prime Minister] Frederiksen told POLITICO in an interview that the Trump administration’s Vice President JD Vance was right when it comes to migration and limiting the mass arrival of foreigners. [https://t.co/68jZimR6WU]
“To limit migration, Denmark has deployed a potent cocktail of policies dubbed “zero” refugees including negative advertising in source countries urging migrants not to make the trip; confiscating valuables from migrants to offset the cost of their stay; threatening rapid deportations for settled Syrians during the reign of Bashar Assad; and the controversial “No Ghetto” laws aimed at reducing the proportion of foreign-born people in Danish neighborhoods. The country also passed a law in 2021 that could allow refugees to be moved to centers in partner countries outside the EU, such as Rwanda, a proposal that the European Commission later criticized.”
Finally someone in the Irish media talking sense. Ireland needs the war to end in Ukraine so we can send home 60,000 Ukrainians and start looking after our own homeless & needy. #PathToPower#IvanYates#Ireland#Ukraine#UkraineRussiaWar
For anyone a little confused...
Today the Rotating Taoiseach of Ireland is meeting the President of the European Council, António Costa - who is the former Prime Minister of Portugal, forced to resign due to corruption in 2023.
Both leaders were appointed in December, but neither will be in office in two years due to revolving leadership arrangements.
Its almost irrelevant anyway, because the real executive and legislative power ultimately lies with the European Commission. And who leads the Commission? Ursula von der Leyen - who was not directly elected by the people but instead appointed through a backroom process.
As for the European Parliament, this is largely a democratic Potemkin show. Laws and budgets are basically only rubber stamped. Parliament lacks the power to initiate legislation, which remains the exclusive right of the unelected Commission.
If the EU wants to compete with the US, China or India it needs to cut through the bureaucracy and build a system that actually works.

David McWilliams says it's almost impossible to achieve housing targets if your population is rising and the problems in the UK will look like chicken feed compared to the problems in Ireland if we don't get our house in order.
