7th grade science students from BCMS published their own books. The books were written in a story form at an elementary level. Their PBL project concluded with the best books being voted on by their peers & delivered to each elementary school. @BreckSchools@BC_nickcarter
Had an incredible event today. Partnered with @SHPbeds to build 30 beds for Sumner County children who currently sleep on the floor. Construction students from Beech HS, Gallatin HS, and Westmoreland HS all participated in the building process. #SumnerCTE
TigerBots visited Portland East “Battle of the Bots” competition today. A great opportunity for the students to see what is involved in a Vex Robotics tournament. TigerBots will be able to compete next year when we get our Vex competition kits. @BC_nickcarter@BreckSchools
7th grade science students at Breck Middle are writing their own stories about cell organelles and their functions. Here are a few sneak peeks of their covers. @MrsNorwoodBCMS@BreckSchools@BC_nickcarter@BreckSTEM
@SammonSTEAM@TKtalksSTEAM@WCSDEmpowers@codebreakeredu I have always enjoyed providing PBL training to teachers in all subject areas. It is very eye opening for them to see the connections in standards. “Natural Fits and Intentional Hits” across standards provides student engagement.
Seventh grade students @BreckSchools investigated waves today by making their own mechanical wave. By building their own wave they were able to see the trough, crest, amplitude, and frequency of a wave. @BC_nickcarter@dailystem

Some great engagement with students learning about potential and kinetic energy. The past couple of days the students constructed a catapult from popsicle sticks, today they competed with their catapult in a Cornhole tournament. @BC_nickcarter#BreckSTEM@BreckSchools
Just because it’s Halloween doesn’t mean the learning stops. But it does allow for an opportunity to use the day to illustrate several concepts. @BC_nickcarter#BreckSTEM

Today’s lesson: 6 Chemical Reactions that Changed History. Students also observed a couple of demonstrations of chemical reactions & balanced the chemical equations for each reaction. Ex: Burning steel wool with a 9v battery 4 Fe (s) + 3 O2 (g) → 2 Fe2O3 (s). @BC_nickcarter
Fun day in science @BreckSchools. Mr. Bruce and Mr. Robinson had students test orange juice for the most vitamin C. After the lab, Mr. Robinson demonstrated a chemical reaction with fire. 🔥 @BC_nickcarter
