News and information from the Breckland Labour Group; it's Councillors, candidates, members and supporters that are working across the Breckland District
I was delighted to speak to Chris Goreham on @BBCNorfolk this morning about the general election - outlining how #Norfolk and the country as a whole is desperate for a change from this Conservative government and how Labour is campaign ready with excellent candidates & policies
Back to the SW #Norfolk campaign this afternoon! Visited the lovely village of Great Cressingham & lunch at @oldewindmillinn - thoroughly recommend! Trip to Didlington on way home for more plants! If you can support our campaign to #ToppleTruss donate via https://t.co/eriyLa70bF
The writing was on the wall for this ill-conceived mural project in #Dereham months ago - well done @AtterwillR & @horatioharry for raising concerns. I hope residents & elected members can now work together to redirect this money to something useful https://t.co/bApT2EZi30

At @BreckCouncil Full Council meeting today, @BrecklandLabour Cllrs are highlighting the appalling situation with disabled facilities grants in the district, with hundreds of people sat waiting for vital adaptations to their homes - delays with assessments and budgets exhausted
Working to protect our rich heritage was a key manifesto commitment for #Thetford Labour Team this year - I'm delighted that Thetford Town Council has now written to @networkrail about the signal box at our train station - hope we can get it improved https://t.co/ReYrnfIjqS
Good to see the East mentioned... in Dereham we now have 2 Lab Cllrs in Toftwood, 1st time in memory, (,2women) and a double win with me in Withburga #Fab4@NorfolkLabourCC@BrecklandLabour
Disappointed that @BreckCouncil Tories charge ahead with plans to put dozens of sites at risk of development or sale - at odds with council priorities e.g Housing, Carbon Reduction, attempts to get people healthier & undertaking physical exercise - once land is gone, it's gone!
'War of words' erupts over plan to sell off public spaces for development https://t.co/3eWwSDsMhz <a little inaccurate in part of the line by paper, unusually. My thrust is about small sites USED as green PUBLIC spaces by residents, not brownfield sites
Yesterday we held a full Council meeting where your Breckland councillors discussed a number of key topics including carbon reduction within our leisure centres, funding news and our latest finance update.

Today's @EDP24 highlights the fab new wildflower meadows created in #Thetford by Thetford Town Council as a result of simply amending the mowing regime. Thanks for the photos @sconebirding and pleased to see quote from new Councillor @HazelEMcC
At the end of each month we will post a snapshot of what your local Labour Team has been working on and what they have achieved on your behalf. Remember, if you have any queries or comments then please do get in touch as well. Here's the Report Card for May - a busy first month!
This figure is concerning and doesn't include the many people who were put off voting entirely by the new requirements - either because they objected on principle or because they didn't know they could make other plans - e.g. voter authority certificates https://t.co/MaAt5HvxOy
