The Jewish people, never more than 0.2% of humanity, have survived 3,500 years of systematic persecution by every major empire in recorded history: Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman, and Nazi.

Pharaoh tried.

Haman tried.

Hitler tried with the full machinery of a modern industrial state and murdered six million and still, Israel exists.

Every single empire that made their destruction a priority is gone. The Amalekites are gone.

The Philistines are gone.

Rome is gone.

The Third Reich lasted twelve years.

The Jewish people are still here 15 million strong, back in their ancestral homeland, speaking their ancient language, the same people, the same book, the same God outlasting every sword ever raised against them across 35 centuries of unbroken existence.

What does that mean for us as Christians? It means you take the word of God literally. It means you look to Christ’s character to determine how you are to behave in this world.

FWIW, I am working on a much more detailed take on the MOU and related matters, but let me post this very brief thought:

I find much to be concerned about in this MOU and I am truly hopeful that the next 60-days can be used to make important amendments to it.  I trust the administration is open to making some very important changes and not dug in as this negotiation continues.  To name only one issue among others, there is no way most Americans, let alone Israelis and the Lebanese, can abide a deal in which Hezbollah, which has brutally murdered hundreds of our fellow citizens, is essentially protected by our government in alliance with the Iranian regime, and free to continue to kill Americans, Israelis, and others as the most potent terror weapon of the Iranian regime not only survives but is immunized.  And since Israel is the only country that actually fights this enemy with its soldiers and airmen, and whose citizens are in the direct line of fire from missile and drone attacks, nobody in their right mind will tolerate this.  No amount of berating our ally or pressuring the PM, which is shocking, changes anything.  I want to underscore Hezbollah has killed our people and we've done next to nothing to deal with it.  In and of itself, that is shameful.

Heavenly Father,

I acknowledge that You are wise in all Your ways and faithful in all Your promises. Your Word says that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask of God, who gives generously to all without finding fault. So today I ask for Your guidance.

Lead me in the decisions that lie before me. Close the doors that are not Your will and open the doors that align with Your purpose. Guard me from acting out of fear, pride, impatience, or selfish ambition. Help me to trust You even when I cannot see the entire path ahead.

Lord, teach me to delight in You so that my desires are shaped by Your heart. Let Your Word be a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. Give me discernment to recognize truth, courage to obey what You reveal, and peace to wait when the answer is not yet clear.

When I am uncertain, remind me that You direct the steps of those who trust You. When I am tempted to lean on my own understanding, help me acknowledge You in all my ways so that You may make my paths straight.

Fill me with the Holy Spirit and guide my thoughts, my words, and my actions. May every decision I make bring honor to Jesus Christ and draw me closer to the person You created me to be.

I surrender my plans, my future, and my desires into Your hands. Your will is better than my own, Your timing is perfect, and Your grace is sufficient.

In the name of Jesus Christ I pray,

Your Kingdom is everlasting, Your throne is unshakable, and Your purposes cannot fail. Open my eyes to see beyond the temporary things of this world and to live for what is eternal.

Teach me to seek first Your Kingdom and Your righteousness. Let my heart be captivated not by the kingdoms of men, but by the reign of Christ. Where there is pride in me, establish humility. Where there is selfishness, establish surrender. Where there is fear, establish faith.

May Your Kingdom come in my thoughts, my words, my home, and my life. Make me an ambassador of Your grace, a servant of Your truth, and a witness to Your glory.

Let my life bear the evidence that I have been with the King!

King Jesus, rule over every corner of my heart. Let Your will be done in me as it is in heaven. And may my life become a reflection of the coming Kingdom where righteousness, peace, and joy abound forever.

For Yours is the Kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever.
