Reading this from you, Mark Kelly, feels like watching a man drape himself in his résumé as if it can shield him from the consequences of what he just did.

While your service was admirable, your conduct now is a slow collapse of judgment that you can practically hear creaking under its own weight.

You were one of the lawmakers who looked into a camera and told service members they could start deciding for themselves which orders felt “illegal” without naming a single example.

You introduced fog into a system that cannot function with fog. You and your colleagues know exactly what happens when politically aligned troops start doubting lawful commands.

You did it anyway. The chain of command is not a suggestion box and you treated it like one.

And the part that truly erases whatever respect I had left is this.

You voted repeatedly not to pay the very service members you now claim to defend.

You knew they would still have to report for duty.

You knew they would still face punishment if they did not.

They are the only people in America forced by law to keep working without pay and you leveraged that fact to play shutdown politics.

Spare us the speeches about danger and sacrifice. They were living the consequences while you were turning their livelihoods into a negotiation chip.

Your service in uniform deserves respect. Everything after that has been a descent into theatrics at the expense of the people you once served beside.

You undermined clarity.

You undermined discipline.

You undermined confidence in lawful authority.

And now you are pretending to be shocked that citing the statute attached to sedition has legal consequences.

You know better. You just hope no one remembers it.

The truth is simple. Your military career was a towering steel beam.

Your political choices since then have been termites chewing through the foundation beneath it until the whole thing trembles.
