A former senior AFP counter terrorism commander told the royal commission the agency was under political pressure to “balance” the far greater threat of Muslim terrorism with so called “right wing extremism”

Tony Abbott confirmed it, officers in the field told him that was exactly the instruction they were given.

While ISIS inspired shooters planned the massacre, the AFP’s new National Security teams were arresting nationalist Joel Davis in Bondi over a Telegram post.

$152 million spent on Counter Terrorism.

$523 million spent protecting politicians.

AFP Commissioner Krissy Barrett’s new top five priorities include “social cohesion” and “supercharging global operations”

Counter terrorism didn’t even make the list.

The relevant ministers need to be called in and asked what they knew, what they did, and what they should have done.

ASIO WARNED ALBANESE. HE DID NOTHING. THEN BONDI HAPPENED.

ASIO boss Mike Burgess has now admitted what many already knew.

He repeatedly warned that antisemitism, turbocharged by radical Islamist networks after October 7, was Australia’s deadliest threat.

Albanese’s government treated it like a PR problem.

Burgess says the hate that exploded at the Opera House on 9 October 2023 was allowed to become normalised.

That “increased the permission for politically motivated violence.” Burgess said.

It went from protests, to vandalism, to firebombings, to targeting Jews, to mass murder.

He raised the terror threat to “probable” in 2024. Less than two weeks before Bondi, a classified ASIO assessment warned lone actors would strike crowded public places over the holidays.

Those warnings fell on deaf ears.

It gets worse, counter terrorism funding across the intelligence community was cut in the years leading up to the attack by the Albanese government.

Resourcing dropped from 23% to under 16%. Unbelievably, no serious extra money after the threat level was raised to probable.

Burgess now sits with “deep regret.”

He asks himself what more he could have done. He says others in leadership should have heeded the warnings.

They didn’t.

Being the Prime Minister in charge of Australians safety and security, means taking the spy chief seriously when he tells you the threat is coming.

Not waiting until Australians are murdered on Bondi Beach and then acting surprised when it happens.

The buck stops with Albanese over this, he needs to resign.
