@BrettKnoss She was convicted on a succession of baseless theories so primitive it's likely hundreds of professionals at the very top of their careers have invested thousands of hours trying to protect the integrity of science itself with a likely compliance cost of tens of millions...
@Fiona__CL The problem with Lucy Letby is that she was convicted on medical evidence that presupposed murder and came up with diverse methods that have proved to be impossible.
@Fiona__CL I think the coroner should focus on causes of death (ie blood loss, tissue damage, shock)
The police should have a panel to investigate concerning police accidents and interactions where a person dies interacting with police or in police custody.
Stupidity followed by malice? Malice followed by stupidity? Malice all the way? Stupidity all the way?

@SteveKerins If Vance was going to talk about a UK case Andrew Malkinson is more relevant. And, the wrongful incarceration of Lucy Letby after a witch trial reflects very negatively on the UK justice system, the Cheshire Constabulary, The Countess of Chester Hospital, and the NHS model.
For a more irreverent take, has anyone seen The Americanization of Emily? Great black-ish comedy with James Garner & Julie Andrews (& Paddy Chayefsky script).
June 6. Five beaches. 23k paradropped or landed gliders behind enemy lines. 130k hit the beaches. Two American, two British, one Canadian. Omaha saw the bloodiest fighting, but the grunts took the beach. Paris would be liberated in 80 days.
I'm always moved by the D-Day story.🇺🇸
For Skeptic, I argue that the best way to abolish bad ideas is not to ban them but open them up to genuine multidisciplinary critique.

After the guilty verdict yesterday for the rapist who did what Andrew Malkinson was falsely convicted for, we have to ask ourselves:
How common is this?
Lucy Letby is the highest profile prisoner who is almost certainly innocent. But there could be as many as 19,000 others.
@Jabbey20 If Letby's alleged "methods" were so sophisticated, where are her literature searches? The doctors certainly did searches. The "modus operandi" clearly came from them. They invented the M.O. to fit the duty rota.
