@DrCraigEmerson So do those countries have “free” universities?
Is HECS/HELP a tax?
Do they have state Stamp Duty on insurance and housing? (Most other countries don’t have states)
How is Superannuation treated? Most countries have social security payments.
@Mon4Kooyong Hey Mon, interest is charged FIRST then the repayment deducted.
It’s called a Reducing Balance Loan and is set out in a Loan Schedule. 🤷♂️
🚨 OMG. SEC. SCOTT BESSENT JUST WENT THERE 🔥
SEN WYDEN (D): We don't want ramblings about the most corrupt regime in history, we want facts
BESSENT: "And we'd like to hear what Adam Wyden and Jeffrey EPSTEIN talked about. Your son's largest investment position was Rick's Cabaret. So, did your son and Jeffrey Epstein talk about pole dancing as he begged him for money using your limited credibility?"
ASSASSIN.
@tanya_plibersek So $1000/wk X 52 < Albo’s $57,000 pay rise.
We’re all equal, but some are more equal than others.
Oh, and that that will be indexed for life on his pension. 👍
@sjwill99@DrCameronMurray Social security payments, when I have made them in other countries, were “buying” into a delayed payment; more akin to an annuity.
In the Netherlands to get a 100% pension at retirement, you pay in for 40 years, 1/40th each year.
@DrCameronMurray I hate to throw that logic back, but wouldn’t the Euro zone countries include social “payments” (not taxes)…but they’re counted as taxes in that comparison?
Great article in the AFR today from @profholden. The proposed changes to CGT are an act of self-harm which will incentivise businesses to stay small and grow slowly--the opposite of what we should be doing in a productivity crisis.
