Wm Thomson [Lord Kelvin] made many thermal measurements and then in 1848, based on the Laws of Thermodynamics, computed that there was an Absolute Zero Temperature [-273.15 C]. With the Kelvin scale, there are no Negatives.

178 years later [2026], Absolute Zero is validated

Sir Wm Thomson invented a new compass [US# 210 066]

He boarded a ship headed for the high seas and the Captain threw it on the hard deck and told Wm that it was too dainty and flimsy.

Thomson picked it up and it still worked. He then threw the Captain's compass and broke it!

Wm Thomson taught and wrote many books at the University of Glasgow for most of his scientific career. He is a Giant in the Field of Applied Science, Engineering, Thermodynamics
