@VINTAGESASKO Unfortunately TSN and Rogers pretty much ignore USports when they don't have the broadcast rights. Unfortunate considering that they're supposed to be Canada's sports networks, but it is cheaper to buy and air US productions than to cover domestic leagues.
Four rouges in the Vanier Cup today. Three of them would've been touchbacks with the new CFL rules. The only thing more boring than touchbacks is fair catches. Time for the CFL to rethink their rouge change. Either leave it alone, modernize it. #RougeOne
@RedBlackGade Definitely not the rouge change. That rouge was conceded 16 yards into the endzone, so it would've been a touchback under the new rules. Who wants more touchbacks? #RougeOne
@NHAlouettesFire@MTLAlouettes The future is bright with Alexander. He should get more cracks at it. Harris on the other hand needed to get it done now, as he may never get another shot.
@DJPiratePreach@CFLAttendance That said, concerns about marketing are valid. I just don't think fixing what wasn't broken with the league (the game) is the way to go about solving their marketing challenges.
@DJPiratePreach@CFLAttendance They reduced capacity with the new wider seats. It is still over 50,000 and still sells out for Grey Cup.
For smaller stadiums like Winnipeg's, they don't expand them because it doesn't actually make economic sense. Better to have less seats with higher prices.
@Dorizzdt Or .NET when they put the name .NET on everything, even stuff that had nothing to do with .NET. They have never been known for coherent branding.
@DonTaylor5 I think the games this year showed they're entirely unnecessary from an entertainment standpoint. Next year will show it even more, as scoring could skyrocket with the new play clock on the current field.
Business wise, maybe there are other reasons. The product was fine though.
@Markonfootball I think his polished presentation won over the board as well. They're convinced there is a bunch of new revenue waiting for them with these changes.
I worry that it is a great sales pitch for a bad idea, but we'll see. Certainly it is a risky one!
@CFLonTSN@TSNDaveNaylor@FarhanLaljiTSN I'm not sure their damage control is working. The only people who seem to be feeling better after this are those who were already okay with the changes.
It is going to be awful hard for Johnson to recover from the awful rollout of the new rules.
@cjones2451@CFL_News I don't think the game needed fixing by any metric. Just last year they touted how they have the best football product in the world. Why mess with that? Maybe take risks in other areas.
New stadiums may be the real reason to do it, but that isn't how they're selling it to fans.
