Small businesses are the backbone of California’s economy. They create jobs, serve communities, and keep Main Streets alive.
But today, many are facing a growing threat from abusive lawsuits under an outdated 1960s law never designed for modern websites.

This may be talking points Senator Thune wants repeated, but it’s completely untrue.
7 Republicans voted against the GOP Leadership proposal. Does Sherman have a list of 14 Dems who would have voted for it to clear 60 votes? I’m pretty sure the answer is no
OAKLAND IS ON THE MOVE 🌟
I'm proud to announce I'm running for re-election as Mayor of Oakland!
Thank you for believing in The Town. When I first ran, we chose to turn the page on division and come together around a shared vision: an Oakland that is safer, cleaner, stronger, and more hopeful.
And we're delivering results:
✅ Crime rates are going down across the board and we are showing that our strategy has put us on the right path
✅ CA Attorney General cited Oakland as a national model for gun violence reduction
✅ I established the Office of Homelessness Solutions with a 5-year goal to cut unsheltered homelessness in half. We have 1,600 affordable housing units in construction or breaking ground in 2026, including 800 homeless units.
✅ 10,000 volunteers removed 7,000 tons of trash through Keep The Town Clean
✅ OPD months away from emerging from federal oversight after 25 years
Our work isn't finished. In the next four years, I'll keep fighting for:
🏘️ A comprehensive approach to homelessness
🏠 More affordable housing across our city
👮♀️ Community-focused public safety
💼 Good-paying local jobs for working families
🧹 Clean, safe neighborhoods
No one person can move Oakland forward alone — it takes ALL of us. Labor and business. Neighbors and community leaders. Residents from every part of our city.
Together, we're proving Oakland's best days are ahead of us.
Oakland is On the Move. And we're just getting started.💛

Dr. Bill Burke was a giant in Los Angeles County civic life and a tireless champion for cleaner air, healthier communities, and public service.

Grateful for the chance to sit down with @KTVU and reflect on the past year and work ahead. I shared that I’d love another four years to keep building on the progress we’ve made, delivering real results for Oakland.
In just one year:
- Homicides hit a 58-year low in 2025 (fewest since 1967); homicides/shootings down 49% since 2023. Thanks to Operation Ceasefire, violent crime is down 22% and homicides are down 39% as of April 2026. Robberies are down 23% and burglaries are down 24%.
- Illegal dumping cleanup reduced from 26 days to 5.5 days
- 1,600+ affordable housing units under construction.
There’s more to do—and I’m ready to keep going.

Oakland is on the move!
Statement on the Resignation of the City Administrator
I have met with and accepted the resignation of City Administrator Jestin Johnson. On Friday evening, I learned about certain degrading and unprofessional communications involving Mr. Johnson. We promptly conducted our own investigation and verified these communications, which are wholly incompatible with the values of this administration and those of the people of Oakland. Under my watch, I will not tolerate transgressions of this nature.
I have appointed Assistant City Administrator Elizabeth (“Betsy”) Lake to serve as Acting City Administrator, and the City Council has been informed. Ms. Lake has worked in the City Administration for over eight years and is an experienced attorney with over 30 years of practice.
I want to reassure Oakland residents that government services and operations will not be affected during this time of transition. I was elected to represent the values of the Oakland community and that work and commitment continues.
