People should remain skeptical of claims that the shingles vaccine prevents or meaningfully delays dementia/Alzheimer’s because the supporting evidence comes almost entirely from observational and quasi-experimental studies rather than definitive randomized controlled trials (RCTs) with dementia as a primary endpoint.
