@Caimh There may be something with the signup link. I've tried signing up both from phone (Android, Chrome) and laptop (Windows, Firefox) and it hasn't worked. Even disabled the VPN in case it was that but no dice. Just a head's-up.
@fakehistoryhunt Next you'll be saying the Tin Man didn't die of cancer caused by his makeup and there isn't a hanging munchkin actor visible in one shot.
@Richard_Kadrey Any excuse to reshare this. Poster for a New Year's Party at my old local in Prague, complete with drunken, vomiting dwarfs. And look at the date: only 3 months after the Czechoslovak premiere (fast work on the parody). And the north was already occupied by Hitler.
@HistoricalLens1@fakehistoryhunt ...the peak of our civilisation. Mind you, in her Pern novels, all the knowledge of the advanced technological civilisation is lost because it's inaccessible to future generations, so you know. She spotted this coming.
@HistoricalLens1@fakehistoryhunt ...her husband's snoring to settle an argument, then can't sleep after his death unless she plays it - is one I first read as a child in Reader's Digest. And unintentionally, she nailed it. After all our digital data are lost, media like Reader's Digest will represent...
@tomhpollock Hi Tom, I guess you're not on here any more and as I'm not a paid subscriber I can't DM you these days. On the offchance though... I've thought of you often and wanted to reach out, see if you're OK.
@Ian_Willoughby If it's quiet for you over there, you're not following enough people (there's no algorithm, so all your traffic comes directly from who you follow + what they repost). I hit a few starter packs and it made a vast difference. Though very little CZ presence as far as I can tell.
@Caimh Brilliant! Bought immediately. Um, any chance we'll see you over at Bluesky? This places is deader by the day. I was looking for you there only yesterday.
@RosieisaHolt@rejoinnow Another useful thing to try: You can add feeds (the menu at the top, where "discover" and "following" are). Look to the right where it says "more feeds". They're like... specialised algorithms? I like "Popular with friends" as it shows what the people you follow are liking.
@RosieisaHolt@rejoinnow As to how: They're basically lists of recommendations. Personal favourites, professional / experts in some field, etc. There's one of MPs though it's clearly not complete as @RosieisaHolt isn't on it. You can look through the list for individuals or just follow all.
@RosieisaHolt@rejoinnow As to where: I just see them shared, and you can also see people's own starter packs on their profiles. There's a searchable directory here: https://t.co/FAFceQgkFe but I prefer to go for the lists shared by or including people I "know".
@TheNewsAgents@LukeTryl While the point about the language used is well made, the leap to talking about the Democratic tent is question-begging. The Harris campaign was not full of references to white privilege etc. They *knew* all that. The Republicans created that narrative out of whole cloth.
@Ian_Willoughby I assume the conclusion of "likely succeeding" is based on "because literally nothing makes sense any more"? Because those two videos alone are so cringe they'd be career-ending in any remotely sane universe.
