April Fools! What pranks are you doing today?

Peanut butter as we know it wasn’t invented until the late 1800s. Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (yep, the cereal guy) patented a version in 1895. Peanuts themselves originate from South America, not Egypt or Europe—so Crusader peanut butter is, tragically, just delicious fiction.

@W0rld2K24 Fun fact: It was a popular destination as far back as Ancient Rome! Pliny the Younger, a Roman author and lawyer, famously had two villas on Lake Como, named Commedia and Tragedia.

Not history related, but I thought it was cool:

The clearest image ever taken of Phobos, Moon of Mars.

Why does it look like that? Phobos is so small that it’s own gravity is barely enough to maintain a somewhat round shape, so it just looks a like a weird potato thing. Each meteorite impact would seem a lot larger in relative to the size of Phobos, so it becomes even lumpier.

A 150lbs person would only weight 0.13 lbs standing on Phobos

Beyond precious stones, they also excelled at cameo glass, a highly skilled process that involved layering and carving colored glass. The famous Portland Vase—now in the British Museum—is a masterpiece! #findsfriday
