The greatest lesson I've learned in the past year: surround yourself with gentle souls & empathetic hearts & always always always be kind

@WisBBYearbook Congrats Coach Murphy on your spectacular career. You positively influenced so many players, coaches and fans.

"Decided 36 years of high school hoops is enough. Loved every minute of it. My wife, Lucy, is also now retired and we wanted to free up our schedule to travel and spend time with our family."

Congrats on an amazing career, Coach Murphy! One interaction stands out: in Summer 2019, humid conditions made our WBY Kaukauna site unplayable—Coach Murphy opened up Seymour HS and hosted our pool play. Provided waters for all the kids. Great coach and better man. Best wishes!

One of the all-time greats in Wisconsin HS basketball! So grateful for what I learned from Coach Murphy!!

[Mark Miller @WisBBYearbook]

Can confirm that Jon Murphy has stepped down as the varsity boys basketball coach at Kimberly, ending a three-year run at the school after 33 years at Seymour. One of the state’s all-time best coaches. #wisbb

[Doug Ritchay @dougritchay]

"There's nothing quite like the intensity of a high school state basketball tournament. It's a simple format, you lose, you're done. You win, you put your uniform on again, so we're excited that that's us."

[Doug Ritchay @dougritchay]

.@PapermakerBB coach Jon Murphy: "We have six seniors and like everybody they want to chase the dream. They want to put their uniform on (Saturday) night. You got to fight to make that happen and they did that. It's important. These kids care. All these kids care.

[Charlie Jacobson @C_Jacobson15]

Congrats to Coach Murphy on his 647th win, becoming 3rd All-Time in Wisconsin State Basketball history.

Very grateful for the opportunity to be mentored by him. I continue to gain a new perspective from him everyday! #GoMakers #wisbb @PapermakerBB @WisBCA @WisBBYearbook

Coaches

Please. Please. Remind your athletes their worth isn’t tied to their performance. That they will make mistakes, they will fail, and that’s okay. And when they do, hold out your hand & help them back up.

The # of student athletes battling mental health is far too many.

@PapermakerBB Livestream went down at tip-off. Any word from West on if this issue will be resolved before the game ends?! Thanks for the updates!
