I’m just like my country, I’m middle-aged, passionate, and conflicted and I’m not throwing away my shot. INTJ, grand multipara, aspiring writer, PhD student.
Hot take: it’s okay and even good for politicians to be boring, uncharismatic, even bureaucratic legislators, who simply move the country along with better laws and are able to step up in a crisis. We don’t need saviours and messiahs. We need temporary stewards.
1. Literally not our job.
2. We don’t lose our saltiness by not voting. We lose our saltiness by becoming so worldly in our witness that we’d unapologetically champion the oppressive empires of the earth.
3. You sound a lot like the religious leaders of Jesus’ day. The point of being a Christian is to sound like Jesus; not like his adversaries.
4. You’ve invented your own religion that has *nothing* to do with the historical, global, ancient Christian faith.
We raised a generation to believe men only need respect, and women only need love, and now we are stuck with a generation of men starved of love, and of women starved of respect.
Please, let us not forget the poor. May we dream of a world in which water, bread, work, medicine, land, and a home are goods available to every individual. #EndPoverty
I miss all the versions of my kids that have passed by. It’s so weird, but I know we all feel this way. Where did my squishy baby go? Where did my silly little toddler go? Why can’t I have all of them at once? I love every version tho obv, they’re growing up to be so cool, but 😭
had an emotional moment staring at a running faucet this week. we really don't appreciate civilizational infrastructure. literally "pay as you go" unlimited clean drinkable water delivered to everyone, physically piped straight to you and whisked away as soon as you dont need it
my most radical belief is that we spend so much of our lives bickering over petty things while the world waltzes past in all its strangeness and splendor, unnoticed by all but a few
Christianity should sound like, “my beliefs cause me to see profound value in every single person,” not “each person’s value is measured by how closely they align with my personal beliefs.”
@racheljwelcher I have 7 kids and I’m sorry to say that the only thing that really helped was giving birth.
(Real advice - check in with your doctor because you might have a vitamin or hormone deficiency if it’s really bad)
You know what the biggest problem with pushing all-things-AI is? Wrong direction.
I want AI to do my laundry and dishes so that I can do art and writing, not for AI to do my art and writing so that I can do my laundry and dishes.
Gaza: Children are desperate for food and medicine.
Severe acute malnutrition, protein deficiency, wasting syndrome, catatonia, and then death.
The famine in Gaza is a man made catastrophe. This is not a natural humanitarian crisis. #EndIsraelsGenocide https://t.co/Wv5FIYib25
Human Rights Watch: Israel is using starvation as a weapon of war
EU Chief: Israel is using starvation as a weapon in Gaza
UN Experts: Israel is deliberately starving Palestinians in Gaza
Western media: Gazans go hungry, hunt for food, sad times
