@Railway Our customers are complaining because their daily operations have come to a grinding halt!! How can you restore the service asap while figuring out with your upstream provider? @Railway
Spent a day inside @GetLotusRing with Dhaval Patel, a former Apple engineer now building assistive technology in a Silicon Valley garage.
Lotus is a smart ring that lets people with disabilities control their home with simple gestures. Lights, switches, devices - operated without needing to reach, stand, or move.
The technology is impressive. But here's what actually matters:
Most consumer tech companies design for the mainstream first, then bolt on accessibility features later. Lotus flips that. They design for disability first, then expand outward.
When you design for the edge case, you end up building something better for everyone.
The features that make the ring work for someone in a wheelchair - gesture simplicity, no complex menus, instant response - are exactly what make any smart home product better.
I tested the ring myself. Visited the garage where prototypes get built. Watched it work in a real customer's home.
The gap between rough prototype and deployed product is massive in hardware. You can't iterate fast.
Every design decision has manufacturing constraints.
Dhaval left a senior role at Apple to build this in a garage.
Not because it's easy. Because it matters.
So grateful to have hung out with the team.

@Politicx2029 You do realize that US Tariffs don’t impact the average Indian. It impacts the people of the United States. Import taxes are paid by the people living in this country.
@Akshat_World The only people who gets hurt by tariffs is the people who purchase Indian imported goods in the US. Majority of these are people PIO who will continue to buy Indian goods. Tariffs aren’t going to impact India as much as they will impact people in the US who purchase them.

@PanopticonBot@thecaptain_nemo Many reasons. Here are 2: 1. Because the British stole all the wealth in the country pre Independence. 2. population is at a different scale - 4-5x population in the United States - getting things done is much harder. It’s hard to get shit done today in US with less population
@thisislimba@ANI Let me get this straight. USA, Canada and western nations are allowed to go into another country to kill a declared terrorist (Osama Bin Laden) but when a south Asian country does the same (when a western nation is harboring a terrorist), it’s a rouge state? Hypocritical much?
@PhilzCoffee it’s sad to see some classics like the Istanbul Treat not even be recognized by employees. When they take out their secret menu it’s not even there. :(
