Futher to my last post army, corps and divisional horse shows were a regular occurrence definitely from 1917 onwards soldiers taking great care and pride in thier equines turnout and condition . Only coild be one winner of that war !

The British army of the Great war was putting on horse shows and awarding medals for such ,2 things one' the British army was second to none in its care of its equines ,two' that army was never going to lose that war !

@rwkww1 Lovely Image od a territorial soldier of the regiment taken defiantly after 1909 (boots ,pattern) but would guess within the war years (14/18) based on the 08 belt being issued to the line battalions circa 1911

#PicOfTheDay The simple but moving #Memorial to the #RoyalWestKent Regiment in #Tertre #SaintGhislain #Hainaut #Belgium. Unveiled in Aug 2013 on the spot where the first of the regiment died during the Battle of #Mons, it now commemorates all of the 6866 men who fell during #WW1
