Mikkelsen states that the names of the characters in LBS demonstrate an example of colonization rather than a celebration of “genetic names in African culture.” Wouldn’t giving Sambo a name like “John” be a true act of colonization which strips him away from his culture? #CL727

It makes me really sad to see that most cultures have racist “classics.” This a really well-known Mexican comic book, Memin Pinguin, where Memin, an African boy is made to look less human-like compared to the other children as a cruel and deliberate racist point. #CL727
