It makes me really sad to see that most cultures have racist “classics.” This a really well-known Mexican comic book, Memin Pinguin, where Memin, an African boy is made to look less human-like compared to the other children as a cruel and deliberate racist point. #CL727
#CL727 I thought you might appreciate this. Tiny little Alice's Adventures in Wonderland book! It combines three of my favourite things. Sir John Tenniel's illustrations are just as beautiful on such a small scale.
It's interesting how the text in LBS mirrors the outline of the illustrations. There is never anything on the very wide border, it all just frames Bannerman's work. #cl727

I could tell there was aesthetic value within LBS as soon as I saw there were multiple retellings, and I had hope going into this book. I truly do agree with Dr. Thomas on how the original is "both aesthetically pleasurable and ideologically irredeemable" #CL727
In my research, I found a lot of little facts about Charlotte's Web. One being that Kansas banned this book in 2006 because talking animals were too unnatural. 🤣 #CL727

Did anyone else notice that in "Bronzeville Boys and Girls" each background page color (pink, blue, orange, green, etc) had ten pages each before it transitioned to the next color? It's as if the color transitions functioned as chapters. #CL727
Using Open Library I was able to look at both versions of Bronzeville Boys and Girls and the images, coloring, and even the type font make the reading experience really different. John Who is Poor doesn't even have an image attached to it. #CL727
