A coroner has issued recommendations after a house fire in Heckmondwike resulted in the deaths of a father and his nine-year-old daughter.

Thirty-eight-year-old Ahmed and Manahal Ahmed lost their lives following a blaze at their property in June 2025. An inquest into the incident concluded that it was more likely than not that the blaze originated within a Hoover condenser tumble dryer situated in the kitchen.

Coroner Martin Fleming has now called for a ban on the sale of this specific model while safety inspections are carried out. He has issued a warning that as many as 1.6 million Hoover and Candy condenser or vented dryers could potentially be affected by the same deadly fire hazard.

The Reform administration on Warwickshire County Council has been propped up by the Conservatives since they took (minority) control in May 2025.

The current Leader of the Council has been found guilty on at least two separate occasions, by external solicitors at a cost of more than £33,000 to the taxpayer, for breaching the Cllrs Code of Conduct.

However, he was cleared of all wrongdoing by a panel consisting of a Reform, Conservative and Lib Dem Cllr who voted in favour 2-1.

Prior to Reform taking over, the Conservatives had been in power since 2005, so 20 years!

Is supporting Reform an attempt to cling on to power? After all, Conservative Cllrs chair all the major scrutiny committees…

I love FindABrit. I’ve put my heart into it, and every business that joins and every person who backs it means a great deal to me. To everyone who’s supported us so far, thank you.

For now, I want to see it truly flourish. More businesses finding customers, more orders coming through and more people seeing the difference their spending can make.

But in the long run, success would be a Britain where a site like FindABrit no longer needed to exist. Where our businesses were thriving, our communities were stronger and supporting each other was second nature.

STATEMENT:

Reform UK has reported ITV, its board, and its undercover reporters to the police.

Some of the crimes carry up to 10 years in prison.

They forged a passport.

They directly interfered in elections and almost certainly altered the results. Being paid to “canvass” for Reform in crucial wards we lost by a few dozen votes.

They lied to a veteran about their service and left him “violated”.

This is unprecedented.

The police are now involved.

Scrutiny of political parties is one thing.

But anyone breaking the law to try and ruin the lives of Reform’s staff, members or volunteers will be reported to the police and pursued relentlessly in the courts.
