Today’s #FridayFeature is a Cincinnati Reds lineup card from June 28, 2017.
With a career .294 batting average, Joey Votto was a talented hitter, in part because he had such a good eye. In this game against the Brewers, Votto recorded his 914th career walk, setting a Canadian record!
Over 17 seasons in the MLB, Votto led all of Major League Baseball in walks in 3 seasons (plus 2 seasons where he led the National League), and he led the league in on base percentage in 7 seasons (3 leading all of the MLB).
In total, Joey Votto walked 1,365 times, placing him 34th overall in MLB history.
Votto played 17 seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, during the course of which he was a 6-time All-Star, and the 2010 NL MVP. Votto is also a 7-time winner of the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame's Tip O’Neill award, second all-time to Larry Walker.
