1. F&O SETTLEMENT

Option 1: Use Blended VWAP
1. 30 minutes of normal cash trading + 10 mins of CAS
2. Weight depends on actual trading in each period

Option 2: Go back to old VWAP, for now
1. Use only last 30 mins of continuous cash trading
2. CAS trades would have 0 role in expiry settlement
3. Take a call on moving to Option 1 after 1 year

2. MARKET TIMINGS

Option 1
1. Normal cash trading for CAS stocks until 3:30 PM
2. CAS then runs roughly 3:31–3:40 PM
3. F&O trading continues until 3:45 PM

Option 2
1. CAS stocks continue normal trading only until 3:15 PM
2. CAS runs roughly 3:15–3:25 PM
3. F&O closes at 3:30 PM
4. Non-CAS stocks continue trading normally until 3:30

3. NO LIVE INDICATIVE INDEX VALUES DURING CAS

1. Stop showing the live indicative index during CAS
2. Individual stocks can still show indicative rates

4. CLAMP DOWN ON SPOOFING

1. Keep the overall CAS price band at ±3%
2. Orders within ±1% of ref price can be cancelled
3. An order > 1% away from ref price = no cancellation

5. BRING ICEBERG ORDERS INTO CAS
1. Any unexecuted portion of an Iceberg order at the end of normal trading would move into CAS
2. But it would become a normal limit order

Co-location in commodities was always going to happen. Equities have had it for decades.
The only concern is if the speed advantage ends up being available only to the big players.
Starting with non-agri makes sense since agri markets are still relatively thin.

SEBI May Allow Co-Location in Commodities Next Year
SEBI is likely to permit co-location for commodity markets from next year — something already available in equities for over 20 years.
This will give faster order execution, tighter spreads and better prices. It can attract more institutions and high-frequency traders, and deepen liquidity.
FPIs may also get wider access beyond cash-settled non-agri contracts. Co-location may start only with non-farm commodities, as agri markets are still shallow.

Our tech team has formed a nice collective that builds and maintains open-source software for public good. The "collective" is just the latest avatar of what we've been doing from day one. Over the years, we've built and open-sourced tools that are today used by everyone from governments to large companies.

I don't think there's another company with such a small tech team (~35 people) that has shipped so many side projects that are now world-class, enterprise-grade open-source products. JP Nagar is the official FOSS capital of India 😛

I don't like this idea but Rbi can also offload a lot of 2029, 2030 maturity govt bonds it holds in its portfolio to offset the large rupee liquidity increase. Banks can buy them to get a positive carry on their new found deposits.

I don't like it because it means the rbi will find the US govt rather than the Indian govt and will have to reverse this trade in 2029 too.

A rs 5 lakh crore sale will overall reduce the glut of excess liquidity for banks.

RBI already keeps a large part of India’s forex reserves in US government bonds, so this is nothing new.

Selling some 2029-30 Indian bonds to soak up extra cash just means they hold a bit more dollars for a few years. They can easily sell those US bonds and buy Indian ones back when the time comes.

FPIs have started buying Indian stocks again.

Over the last five fortnights, they have invested ₹63,941 crore in Indian Equities. It is the longest stretch of fortnightly buying we have seen in the last two years.

The intent behind CAS was right. A proper closing auction is how most developed markets discover the close.
The issue is using a thin 15-minute auction to settle a very large derivatives book on expiry.
When participation drops, the close stops representing the market.
VWAP for expiry settlement, CAS for the regular close. That split probably should have been the starting point.@livemint @SEBI_India @NSEIndia
