@BJH_AlThani#CDR20 I always read on twitter that you should never tell people how they should be feeling. And that a person “could never be wrong with their feelings”
@BJH_AlThani#CDR20 But don’t people get infuriated if you told them that “it’s not a big deal”? Wouldn’t they feel that they’re emotions are being disregarded in a sense?
“so success to you is defeating your negotiation partner?”
I realized that this type of thinking won’t help anyone. In fact, it is the opposite of the “win-win” situation. #CDR20
#CDR20 In one of my reflection papers where I had to write about my negotiations, I wrote something like “I did well because I got my negotiation partner to agree to a price that is higher than her bottom line” ... and the professor commented by saying
@elias_ayah Emotions can be shown when the negotiation or conflict is with someone you know personally, like the West Bay Negotiation #CDR20 But should we really be doing that when it’s professional, like the Educate the Children negotiation?
I know someone who genuinely doesn’t care if you challenge their identity. For example, let’s say they think they’re smart. If someone told them “You’re dumb” they’ll seriously respond with “Yea I’m dumb”
I know they have a weird personality, but why is that?😂 #CDR20
@ShannonYijia@PinshuW This was illustrated in the “Border Dispute” negotiation! #CDR20 Remember how most of the big countries got a deal and the small one didn’t?
@PinshuW@FatimaMoiyed won’t we do the same thing later on? We won’t be used to emotions and feelings. It’s normal so I think parents should use their emotions in the right way #CDR20
@PinshuW@FatimaMoiyed#CDR20 I don’t know if I’m talking about something else but parents should sometimes appeal to emotions. After all, don’t we all adapt most of our habits from our parents? If they never showed emotions while we were growing up...
So maybe to convince someone to change their behavior, we would have to act disappointed and say “you’re not like this” “I know being a (.....) isn’t who you are.”
This would be effective, wouldn’t it? #cdr20
When you do something that threatens or challenges a part of your identity you believe is “fundamental”, you’ll right away correct your mistake and get back on track. (I experienced this many times) #cdr20
@PinshuW Tell them you’ll give them time and come back to talk when they’ve calmed down (maybe meanwhile try to think of why they’re mad at you lol) #CDR20
Fast forward a few seasons and Rosa says “Jocelyn’s not like us, she has feelings” lol. But look at how they’re acknowledging each other’s feelings. Maybe that’s what we should do during conflicts 😬 #cdr20
I think the whole COVID-19 situation highlights the importance of the right timing to resolve a conflict. When taking action is too late, it might be more challenging to resolve the issue #CDR20
Also, I strongly related to “I’m considering getting my tear ducts melted”
But Holt saying “it’s not the end of the world to feel things” is the advice I needed most I guess 😭 #cdr20
Mind you that Rosa and Holt never talk about feelings. They’re the least emotive in the squad and that was the most accurate representation of myself being on the screen #Cdr20
