‼️ When pro-Israelis say “Palestinians rejected peace offers 8 times”, tell them this:
Israel has voted NO on 364 peace settlements w/ Palestine in the UN general assembly since 1947.
US has VETOED over 46 peace resolutions w/ Palestine in the UN Security Council since 1948.
Seen this first hand multiple times, I am a firm believer it stems from Hindu influence culturally on Islam in the subcontinent.
There's this vague notion of Birr Al Walidayn (honouring ones parents) that's been misunderstood, which is as if you are serving the divine, audhobillah. This is a Hindu notion. I've seen this a lot in Desi boys where it's not properly understood what you're supposed to do for your parents, just this vague feel good notion of extreme levels of service but when push comes to shove, Hindus don't actually take care of their parents, so borrowing from their culture on this matter is foolish.
We have lots and lots of love for our parents and especially our mothers. However, the rights of your wife, are her rights. Your wife isn't there to serve your mom, buddy, that's your job. If she does help you out, alhumdulillah it's a sadaqah for her and makes her a decent human being.
You are required to honor, take care, and serve your parents until they pass even if your wife doesn't like it. However, that doesn't mean you sideline her rights and only do what your parents want. Knowing when and where to apply justice and tact is the skill set of a good husband.
It also goes to show you the immature mentality of unmarried young men on this app where they would just assume their mothers are somehow right in every situation. This is not the mentality of a Muslim. We judge things in balance by what is apparent in the reality. We support truth and correctness. Not just vague notions of oh my mother everything. This is a saying, and figure of speech. It's not meant to be taken literally.
There are two things which are greater than your mother.
Allah Azzawajal
His Messenger ﷺ
The commands and way of life they have given you takes precedence over vague notions of my mother my mother when misapplied and misunderstood.
I wasn't aware that there were so many Muslim brothers that get excited when people convert to Islam masha Allah! Please keep that energy for converts in your communities that you can embrace as well, insha Allah. Not just for the rich and famous ones.
