@sherrattsam I agree. This makes writing a puzzle and I often fall back on ‘students’ because it is not appropriate to have learner/learning, etc all in the same thought. If we stick with ‘learner’ we might have to look at the way in which we refer to parents, etc.

@sherrattsam Going with teaching assistant/support teacher/assistant ensures that the individual is supporting more than one learner with learning and does not draw attention to the learner’s need for individual support which might cause other issues.

We need to stop sad-shaming. It's OK to be sad, to not be in the mood to be friendly, to be upset and feel your true emotions. So much damage comes from being told constantly by parents, friends, etc. to "just smile!". Let people be, and if you care about them, just be with them.
