Something significant just happened in New Zealand law
Before 3 June 2026: All NZ Public Service agencies were required by law to run DEI programmes.
After 3 June 2026: These agencies are no longer required to run DEI programmes — but running them voluntarily is not prohibited.
The Public Service Amendment Act 2026 received Royal Assent on 2 June 2026. It came into force on 3 June 2026.
For the first time since 2020, the law that required every government department in New Zealand to run Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) programmes – programmes built in part on the ideological architecture of the Yogyakarta Principles – has been STRUCK FROM THE STATUTE BOOKS.
How did DEI get flushed through our government departments in the first place?
The Public Service Act 2020 – the law whose DEI provisions have just been repealed – was introduced to Parliament by Labour’s Chris Hipkins, then Minister of State Services. Hipkins described it as… “…the most significant change in the public service in 30 years.” – in a Beehive Statement on 23 July 2020.
The diversity and inclusiveness obligations embedded in sections 73 and 75 – the provisions now repealed – were Labour’s design, driven by Labour, and celebrated by Labour.
@Tom_R_Alliance@Davidwi03912050@grok You asked for an example. Grok gave you a couple. Lefties dont like that real information is on hand at any time. Shoot over to bluesky if you dont like it
Yes, plenty of genuine New Zealand-made clothing is available under $165.
KILT makes all its clothes in NZ and has tops, shirts and basics from $89 (e.g. dress slips) to around $179. Tonic & Cloth offers ethical NZ-made pieces with tops starting at $99.
Local production with fair wages here costs more than overseas fast fashion, but these brands prove you don’t have to pay party-merch prices for decent local options. Check https://t.co/SHZL9BXiuR and https://t.co/PMZUDLipXe.
Finally the Guardian admits what everyone already knows.
They choose and manipulate photos to make One Nation look the worst and terrorists look better. It's just surprising to hear them admit it out loud.

There’s alot of truth to this - I’ve slept no more than 2-4 hours a night since mid December, Sunday I ended up in Hospital having to call an ambulance for the 1st and only time in my life… turns out, what I thought was a heart attack was damaged kidneys restricting blood vessels and oxygen - I’ve always struggled to switch my brain off and sleep.. but this is a different level.
I’m kinda known as the Ai guy in my friendship groups now - when they ask me what’s the craziest thing about it… for me…it’s the first time in my life, despite trying my absolute hardest, I can’t keep up with it.. but damn do I love it and want too!
Even now- laying in bed for a week, I can’t switch it off… it just feels like wasted time. The wife’s taken the work laptop, so I find myself enjoying being on X again for the first time in a while, I watched a movie for the first time in maybe 3 months…well 3/4 I fell asleep lol.
Everything I’ve ever wanted to build, everything I’ve ever wanted to learn, relentless logical debates, every crazy idea! Better Hue lighting, Aircon and heating controlled from my laptop, bespoke learning games for my kids, personal digital assistants, financial models to levels that were once restricted to the biggest most powerful hedge funds.
I have an IQ around 140-143 (depending on the test taken) and an OCD to understand how things fit together and work and if I dig into something (anything non-language based) - I’ve always been able to master it pretty quickly - I find stress relief in understanding complexity and problem solving (most will never understand that).
But I can’t keep up, god knows I’ve REALLY tried. I find it both so very exciting but also terrifying.
There is no getting ahead of this. Our bodies will break before the machines do 🤯
Something about being able to build and learn anything and everything is more addictive than any substance. Few times my wife has suggested we open a bottle of wine, and shocked when I’d reply, I’m good, want a clear head to debug this… 🫣
I’m not often wrong, but I’m often early…
I think we see big companies signing up for more private blood tests for their employees, a quarterly health and wellness checks… cos I won’t be the 1st and only one, I think this becomes an unexpected secondary effect of agentic coding…. Not for those pushed by employers but for those that genuinely love it, those that see the potential and the unlock it provides, those that have a natural inclination to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Yesterday I slept from 6pm till 7:30am and I’m ready for sleep now at lunchtime.
From no sleep to only wanting to sleep 24/7… the irony’s not lost on me…. I have the most amazing wife and while I know she will never read this, I just have to say it.
I’ll be fine - but it’s a solid wake up call for someone sub 40.
“insert generic take better care of one’s self statement” 🤘🤦♂️
The policy of fining parents for their child being absent from is cruel. Brie Elliot has found out parents are fined $30 for every day their child is absent. She then asks the question does fining someone $30 a day fix the problem. The short answer is no it doesn't. Link attached
@BriefcaseMike Ha! Missed the fucking ball with this one. The sikh who stabbed henry and the cops who did nothing incited anger. The violence is yet to come.
🇬🇧 Bodycam footage has been released showing Henry Nowak begging for an ambulance before being handcuffed behind his back.
Nowak: "I've been stabbed"
Officer: "I don't think you have mate"
