@JamesADrummond Sounds like a plan then. Yes, either option really, has the possibility to go into spring barley, or keep it and take a cut off in in the following summer.

Hope you don’t mind the question, looking to outwinter cows and calves on some for of forage mixture, just wondering if you’ve done this in the past and what mixtures are most suited for cows and calves about 5/6momths old

@PhilNash2 Had cattle on a very similar system, got quite wet and muddy with all the rain, decided to house them and leave the last little section at the bottom of the field to prevent soil erosion and hold more water.
