Bayard Rustin doesn't always get the recognition he deserves.
But when it came time to turn the idea of a massive march into an actual event, Rustin was the organizer behind the operation.
Two months. 250,000 people.
One of the largest demonstrations the country had ever seen.
That's organizing. #MarchonWashington
Toyin deserved to be here. She deserves to celebrate with loved ones. She deserved to flourish and grow. She deserved to grow as an activist and heal in peace from her trauma. Her story deserved to be told.
Her life mattered

On this day in 1955, 14-year-old Emmett Till was abducted and lynched in Mississippi after being falsely accused of flirting with a white woman. When his mother Mamie saw his mutilated body, she insisted on an open casket so the world could see the brutality of anti-Black racism in the Jim Crow South.
In 2000, Democracy Now! spoke to Mamie Till-Mobley about her decision to hold an open-casket funeral for her young son and what Emmett's life and death meant for the emerging civil rights movement that would later engulf the country. Mamie Till-Mobley died three years after our interview, in 2003 at the age of 81. If Emmett Till had lived, he would be 85 years years old today.

Nolan Wells should be 19 today.
He should be blowing out candles, laughing with his family, making plans and stepping into another year of a life that was still unfolding. Instead, his family is celebrating his memory while continuing to fight for answers about what happened to their son.
His mother, Christine Wonsley, shared in her own birthday tribute:
“Although you are no longer physically here with us, we will always celebrate you and the legacy you have left for us to protect. You have taught us so much about life and how everyday is a blessing and how we have to do better at just living in the moment.”
So, today we celebrate Nolan. But celebration cannot replace justice.
Black boys deserve to grow old. Families deserve answers. And Nolan deserves the truth.
Happy heavenly 19th birthday, Nolan Xavier Wells.
@cartoonvibes26 There will NEVER be another. He IS Batman. Always and forever. Continue to rest in peace, Kevin, and thank you for everything you gave to generations of fans. We will never forget you.

Did you know the TV show “To Catch a Predator” was cancelled because they kept catching law enforcement, teachers, preachers, local officials, and other people meant to protect Children?
The final straw? An Assistant District Attorney in TEXAS was courting who he thought was a 13yo boy. He didn’t show for the sting, so they sent law enforcement and camera crew to his home. The police entered, and Louis Conradt shot himself, taking his own life.
Can’t make this shit up.
If you hear that 8 children were tragically shot & murdered in Louisiana & your 1st thought is to defend gun rights
You are a demon
& your lineage is infected w/ evil
YALL.
There is a charitable organization in Chicago that donates books to women’s prisons. My boyfriend introduced me to it!!!
Yall support!! This is AMAZING. Women’s prisons do NOT get anywhere near the donations men’s do. That’s why my own organization exists.
