@IJoukov@mpfive0 It doesn't. The difference with self defense cases is that the defendant is freely admitting they intended to harm the deceased.
The issue here is that Anthonys lawyers didn't commit fully to self defense and tried to con the jury because the evidence wasn't there.
@colonbag69@mpfive0 The Rittenhouse lawyers ran 2 mock trials in which Kyle testified and didn't testify . They said the numbers clearly indicated he had to testify.
Self defense cases are a thing of their own.
@Swamp_Sagacity@enchantedphotod@Bederowlaw I'm talking about actually testifying on the stand in a full on self defense case.
I've seen prosecutors maneovring them into saying it was an accident and blowing the whole case up
@enchantedphotod@Bederowlaw Testifying self defense is a mine field. You basically have to admit you intended to harm the deceased, and if the jury don't buy it you're openly admitting to murder.
The evidence really has to be on your side to risk doing it, or at least not against you.
@GFALAWRYAN I'm not a fan of judging trials I don't watch for myself (and I would have watched this one), but this sounded like a slam dunk.
He might have got manslaughter if he took the stand and showed remorse at least.
@AnthonyCumia He's double fucked himself by not testifying. Showing remorse is a huge factor in sentencing.
He's going to get whatever the maximum is for his age.
@ksliz22@10thWhiskey You can keep listing all the countries you want, but none of them have ever openly endorsed assassination like the US has with Iran.
And during peace negotiations smh.
@Osirus_Rsing@DschlopesIsBack It's crazy to me that ppl can't see I posted this as a reason why some clowns keep parroting BS about this case, and not because I believe it myself.
@chip_bennett@_LaJanee_ It feels like the defense have abandoned self defense tbh.
I'm really interested in what they have to to say in closing arguments.
@Mighty_Marsha@NorthRenee@SholdonDaniels It can help during sentencing if the defendant shows remorse, and he hasn't even given an explanation for his actions.
I'm not expecting the judge to give him a light sentence.
