Anyone else woken up this morning to listen anxiously to the news and feeling relieved, prouder of who we are, and just a bit more disdainful of the Tommy Robinsons and Elon Musks of this world? Well done decency, well done the police
The new parliament now has a huge majority of MPs who know that Brexit was a terrible mistake.
Starmer will have to address this.
His "not in my lifetime" promise cannot hold given the new political reality.

Juergen is right.
Intended just for internal Tory party management, the EU referendum (and consequent Brexit) has destroyed the Conservative Party, and wrecked the nation.
Farage is now back, proof the far right can never be satisfied. Grievance and betrayal is their MO.
Hi @julietocampbell.
We know the official party position on the EU, Single Market and Customs Union.
But would you personally like to see us rejoin at least the Single Market? The 2016 referendum was only about the EU.
Disappointing if expected from Labour.
We need economic growth, and based on current opinion polls the new parliament will include an overwhelmingly majority of MPs who think Brexit was a terrible mistake.
There will be huge pressure to move closer to the Single Market.
Brexit was by far the most significant action of this government.
You'd imagine they'd be crowing about how wonderful it is, and citing how it's made everyone so much better off.
The fact they're virtually silent on it speaks volumes.

Major new survey also reveals more than 70% say the economy is worse off because of Brexit.

.@LibDems pledge to rejoin the Single Market.
This is coupled with their policy for the near term of negotiating the freedom to live, study and work in the EU for under 35s (despite Brexit).
Steps in the right direction. ๐

Enjoy this Brexit level of (access to your continent) Dover & Kent gridlock...
It is a piece of cake compared to what is coming in October ๐ https://t.co/RCeN0OeZJb
Brexit is not a long term nor stable position for the UK.
The next government will have to find a way to improve the economy.
There is an obvious step:
Rejoin the Single Market and scrap the trade sanctions we've imposed on ourselves.
Deltapoll break down their polls by generation. This was today's Q on "would you vote to rejoin the EU"
Gen Z: 89% Yes / 9% No
Millennials: 67% Yes / 33% No
Gen X: 57% Yes / 43% No
Boomers: 47% Yes / 53% No

Oh dear, Day 2 of new post-Brexit border checks and the governmentโs IPAFFS has crashed.
EU imports have to be logged on IPAFFS to clear customs.
Went down 2 hours ago. Until itโs up again there are 2 options: 1) wave all lorries into UK. 2) send them to a Border Control Post.
Brexit is not a long term nor stable position.
And strangely, the fact that Brexit is widely seen as a failure (even more so outside the UK) is rarely brought up by journalists.
On many issues where public opinion was bitterly divided (e.g. banning smoking in pubs, or legalisation of same-sex marriage), it moved to strong support once the decision was taken & implemented.
Not so with Brexit, where it hasn't rallied around, but shifted steadily against
Hi @julietocampbell, to help encourage tactical voting do you have a personal view on
-rejoining the single market?
-proportional representation?
Thank you!
