India Energy Week's 5th edition is officially flagged off!

The Curtain Raiser at ITC Royal Bengal, Kolkata opened with an evocative AV placing energy at the heart of India's growth story, followed by welcome addresses and a sound-and-light kick-off.

Shri Hardeep S Puri, Hon'ble Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas, spoke of how IEW has, in a short time, become a globally recognised platform - and expressed confidence that IEW 2027 will bring new global voices to the table. Shri Tapas Roy, Hon'ble Minister for Industries & Commerce, West Bengal, underlined how the 5th edition will connect the region to global energy companies and technology providers. Shri Swapan Dasgupta, Hon'ble Finance Minister, West Bengal, spoke of a Kolkata that looks beyond its past, with Ashoknagar prospecting positioning eastern India as the subcontinent's next energy capital.

Post-briefing, Shri Hardeep S Puri, Hon'ble Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas and Shri Suvendu Adhikari, Hon'ble CM of West Bengal, addressed the media on various aspects of IEW, including its impact on the state's future.

The countdown to January 28–31, 2027 begins.

OPEC Secretary General, HE Haitham Al Ghais, welcomed HE Fawaz Bourisly, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait and Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, to the OPEC Secretariat today.

During the visit, HE Al Ghais praised the country’s historic role as one of OPEC’s five Founding Members in 1960. He commended Kuwait’s enduring commitment to the landmark Declaration of Cooperation (DoC), which marks its tenth anniversary this year, and its participation in the Charter of Cooperation.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of dialogue, cooperation and unity among OPEC Member Countries and the non-OPEC countries participating in the DoC in their shared efforts to support global oil market stability.
