As the rainy season begins, the Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety urges all road users, especially motorists, to exercise extra caution.

Hazardous driving conditions can arise from:
- Fog & mist
- Heavy rainfall
- Flooded roads
- Reduced visibility

Ensure your safety on the road.
1. Maintain your vehicle, check tires, brakes & lights to ensure they're in good working condition.

2. Slow down, reduce speed & maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

3. Avoid flooded areas, don’t drive through standing water, as it can be difficult to gauge the depth & may cause your vehicle to stall or be swept away.

4. Increase visibility, use headlights & ensure windshield wipers are in good condition to improve your visibility.

5. Avoid overtaking & reduce the risk of crashes by avoiding overtaking, especially in poor visibility conditions.

6. Pull over if visibility is extremely poor, find a safe place to park and wait until conditions improve @PoliceUg

Earlier today on Kampala Northern Bypass!

Please NOTE, the Northern Bypass is NOT CLOSED to traffic.

The contractor, Stirling, will be undertaking SECTIONAL closures and has put in place safety measures including providing for a dedicated lane to ease traffic movement in those sections where maintenance works will be undertaken.

These works have now commenced at the Kisaasi section and will only affect the old phase of the Northern Bypass.

ROLLOUT OF PHASE THREE OF THE DIGITAL REGISTRATION PLATES.

Things you need to know as @MoWT_Uganda rolls out the third phase of #DigitalRegistrationPlates for first registration of motor vehicles;

1) The commencement date is Monday, 6th January 2025.

2) All orders for registration plates made after 5th January 2025 will be issued by the new service provider M/S Joint Stock Company Global Security

3) GM TUMPECO & ABC LTD, the current/outgoing service providers will continue to process all orders for motor vehicle registration plates received until the end of 5th January 2025.

4) A grace period of 30 days beginning 5th January 2025, has been given to all motor vehicle dealers and motor vehicle owners to enable them to collect their registration plates from the outgoing service providers for orders received before 6th January 2025.

5) Motor vehicle owners and dealers are encouraged to use this period to pick up their registration plates from the service providers.

6)Once the 30days grace period elapses,motor vehicle dealers and owners will have to reapply for duplicate plates using the new regime of registration plates as per the Traffic and Road Safety (Registration Plates) Regulations 2022 ( As Ammended).
