If anyone wants to know how the outrage machine gets fired up:
1. Schmitt plans to drop “bombshell”
2. Someone plants story that Schmitt is a Vance VP contender
3. Right-wing Twittersphere gets Schmitt talking points
4. Schmitt steps in it
5. Scheduled tweets go out anyway
So it turns out that when Eric Schmitt thought Jack Smith snuck off for a secret meeting to conspire with Fani Willis he was actually in Maryland watching Caitlin Clark play basketball.
this gaffe should follow Eric Schmitt around for the rest of his political life
(Jack Smith was actually in Maryland at a HAWKEYES game, not in Atlanta colluding with Fani Willis as Schmitt alleged)

@bennyjohnson Schmitt fucked up the team names, but I'm sure you didn't actually want to verify that; you just wanted to push a narrative. Can't imagine why someone who would take Russian propaganda money would want to do that....
@sahilkapur What a little bitch, Schmitt is. He knew there was something fishy, which is why he wanted to move on quickly, and then to get mad that HE got the info wrong. It's like a toddler's tantrum.
@justin_hicken@DakotaHansen13@LindsayOnAir@VoteTrevorLee@abc4utah@nickshirleyy Yeah, that's part of due process. It's a pretty critical part of our Constitution. AGs usually try not to bring frivolous cases they don't think they can win. Also, given the fact that he resigned, I'd say they might have some weight.
