Kenya is now hosting an embassy for a separatist group from northern Somalia, and they still have the audacity to claim they respect Somalia’s sovereignty!

Let the world bear witness to Kenya’s double-faced foreign policy: the same country that hosted the 2005 Sudan Peace Agreement which ultimately paved the way for Sudan’s partition, and just months ago welcomed Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces as they sought to form a parallel government, is now opening its doors to Somaliland separatists!

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs has listed Somaliland as a separate country from Somalia on its official website. The map shown includes regions like Sool and Sanaag, areas that are not under separatist rule and continue to support the unity of Somalia.

Is this an official recognition of Somaliland by the UAE? And if not, why is a country that claims to support Somalia’s unity promoting such a divisive map?

Or is this simply confusion in Abu Dhabi’s foreign policy after suffering setbacks in Sudan, and now facing a new challenge after the Somali president offered U.S. access to ports that are currently under Emirati control? 🤔
