@briannabocage I agree that we should all be questioning our own online habits. This documentary definitely made me think about how often I check my social media accounts. #eme4390m2023
@Tallmadge_H I know, it is scary that fake news spreads faster. I think it is because fake news tends to be designed to be more tantalizing and shareable, if that makes sense. #eme4390m2023
I found it interesting how they said the social media is no longer just a tool but rather something with its own agenda. They don't just want to offer you a way to connect with friends and family, they want to get as much data out of your to sell #eme4390m2023
I liked that quote about advanced technology being indistinguishable like magic, because sometimes when I hear about what a technology can do I think its magic. Like when I get and ad for something I was just thinking about but didn't say out loud or anything #eme4390m2023
It is very crazy how they are saying your phone is monitoring everything you do on it, even how long you are looking at a certain photo or if in a sad mood. It is crazy how they could figure out if you sad based off of your history and advertise based on that #eme4390m2023
It is interesting how they talked about how social media apps are competing for your attention. Before I turned off the notifications Instagram used to send out updates on who recently posted and asked you to check it out. #eme4390m2023
Watching The Social Dilemma. This beginning little skit reminds me of how kids are getting their first phones younger and younger. I remember I got mine in 5th grade while my older brother got his in 8th. #eme4390m2023
I know that I have agreed to share my location on some apps, and they mostly say something like how it helps with traffic information or to find things more relevant to me. I agree that this is misleading given the detail of the data that is actually being shared. #eme4390m2023
"Many location companies say that when phone users enable location services, their data is fair game. But, The Times found, the explanations people see when prompted to give permission are often incomplete or misleading." From https://t.co/hdBe1AHsZu

It is very creepy how easy it would be for someone to figure out who you are based on your location even if your name is censored. This could be putting a lot of people at risk. #eme4390m2023
"Businesses say their interest is in the patterns, not the identities, that the data reveals about consumers... But those with access to the raw data
— including employees or clients — could still identify a person without consent." From https://t.co/hdBe1AHsZu

I think that this is great advice. There is nothing wrong with using apps to help structure your day but it is unhealthy to completely rely on them for your emotional well-being. #eme4390m2023
"Make certain sectors of your life off-limits to apps; they are fine to use for scheduling, perhaps, but not to manage your emotional or spiritual life," From Gardner and Davis. #eme4390m2023

I think this article brings up an interesting point at the end that with how much more prevalent video games are the label of a 'gamer' might phase out as it becomes a normal thing to play games. #eme4390m2023

I agree and relate the the argument of escapism in this article, at least with the games I play. I prefer relatively peaceful and cute games as a little break from reality. #eme4390m2023
Did you know that @wedupbs has thousands of free educational, safe, and most importantly fun videos and games available for children on their mobile app?
