Dan Duggan faces no Australian charges, even though he has been in NSW prisons since his arrest on October 21, 2022.
Dan's case is based on a secret 2017 US indictment relating to unproven allegations he broke US-specific laws, despite being an Australian citizen, whilst instructing civilian pilots in South Africa back in 2012.
The US allege he taught military pilots without permission – both TFASA and Dan maintain they were civilian and he didn’t need permission. They accuse him of teaching how to land on aircraft carriers, which there were none in South Africa and the planes used were 1960s aircraft. They accuse him of money laundering of payments that were declared to the ATO and paid into his Australian bank account.
Dan is being used as a scapegoat in an ideological war between political powers.
