@BeaneaterB People are just irritated about the deadline (don’t blame em), but now is definitely not the time to get frustrated. They’re playing good ball. Complain in October
@BoopPalls1298@cjwalters4242@BaseballWRLD_ Well my argument is with WAR.
There’s no way there should be that big of a gap (to date).
But also, I’d rather have 85 IP with a sub 2 ERA over elite base running and defense
@BleacherProphet@cjwalters4242@BaseballWRLD_ That’s essentially saying “PCA’s start to the season was a 97 OPS+ and 96 wRC+”
No one would ever make that argument against PCA, so what’s the point in doing that with Shohei?
@cjwalters4242@BaseballWRLD_ It’s not fair to dock PCA, agreed. I just think WAR is flawed, if that makes sense. Shohei has only pitched half a season like you said, but at an absolute elite level. I’d take that over an elite glove, regardless of the position. Especially with a similar offensive profile
@cjwalters4242@BaseballWRLD_ PCA is elite. I have no problem with him winning MVP, especially at the trajectory of his season vs Ohtani’s.
My point is being an “elite CF” does not equal “elite SP” with a similar offensive profile.
Teams pay $200+ million alone for an elite SP
@BaseballWRLD_ Nearly identical offensive profiles. At the VERY LEAST, 85 IP with a sub 2 ERA should equal the difference between PCA’s base running and his elite glove. Not only do they not equal, but PCA has 1.4 more WAR. WAR overstates defense and base-running, IMO. Slug and K’s win in Oct
