“I have a father, brothers, children, and friends who have gone to a world of spirits. They are only absent for a moment. They are in the spirit, and we shall soon meet again. The time will soon arrive when the trumpet shall sound. When we depart, we shall hail our mothers, fathers, friends, and all whom we love, who have fallen asleep in Jesus. There will be no fear…but it will be an eternity of felicity.” - Joseph Smith Jr.
You misunderstand.
God did not “give us” brains. Adam and Eve had brains because their parents had brains. You incorrectly believe that I’m suggesting we turn off our intellect. I am not. I’m saying we cannot obtain a sure witness by our own intellect and understanding.
The quote on which you seem to build the entirety of your justification says “rational argument does not create belief” and yet you assert that it is “necessary” for true faith conversion (You are at odds with your own claims). You are trying to imply that if one does not possess a rational argument component to their faith, they cannot have a “true faith conversion”. I reject that. It isn’t true. It isn’t in the scriptures. It isn’t from Christ. He asks us to become as little children. Now it isn’t prohibited but it’s not required either. Not appealing to rational argument doesn’t constitute blind faith. Did our hearts not burn within us?
Now if something is not required and by your own admission isn’t “sufficient”, why treat it as essential as you seem to?
Elder Bednar taught that “Reason is important and useful; however, it is neither the best nor the only way of knowing. A witness of truth by the power of the Holy Ghost that we invite into our soul produces a spiritual knowledge, an illumination, and a conviction more sure, more powerful, and more enduring than can be received through seeing, hearing, touching, or rational argument alone.”

“Feasting on the word of God each day is more important than sleep, school, work, television shows, video games, or social media.
…as you dedicate time every day, personally and with your family, to the study of God’s word, peace will prevail in your life. That peace won’t come from the outside world. It will come from within your home, from within your family, from within your own heart. It will be a gift of the Spirit. It will radiate out from you to influence others in the world around you.“ - Richard G. Scott
As they say context is important. Elder Holland was not speaking to the general body of the church. And if you read the entire address I doubt you’ll see his reference to Austin Farrer’s thoughts above as a green light to go around picking fights and selling tickets to the “show” and then slicing it up into clips to parade around the internet snickering about how you made your opponent look like a fool.
