The vindicatory miracle argument is weird. (I assume this is what you're referring to) If these miracles are so common and clear it seems like debating them is pointless, instead non-Catholics should just encounter the miracles in the wild.

Also, I don't think miracles matter if they support something morally repugnant. (eternal conscious torment)

Yet progressive Christians have existed for hundreds of years. The social gospel is something inspired by the liberal Christian movement. They are certainly heretics, but it seems like heretical Christians are the most relevant and impactful Christians throughout history.

Ryan Raises a good point; source documents are necessary for interpretation. However, it is reasonable to assume that not all of the information is present in the gospels. What's worse is the gospels themselves seem to contradict.

So, neither solution of tradition nor scripture alone works. Both are valuable but no conclusion can be drawn in many instances. So the deciding factor must be the fruit of the teaching.

@Starrtoon Unironically, that is the most horrifying teaching. Why would it ever be considered a good thing to divorce someone you built a legacy with and love? I can only make sense of some marriages being annulled in heaven, but not truly loving ones.

@Starrtoon I saw it and I'm aware of verses in revelation. I used the word pet because the interaction you described seemed to entail. Sex can be for procreation but also romance and joy.

I'm critiquing the rational, cruelty, while also proposing interpretive solutions.

@Starrtoon Paul does that, but Jesus seems to make explicit comparisons with marriage and heaven. Even then Paul's statement could be inferred to be Koh = marriage
Sex and marriage are not necessary, but neither are gardens or pets. So why assume that exists?

@Starrtoon I'm talking about, the divorce at death that persists in heaven. Technically it's not divorce since it seems to be imposed upon a couple, but that only seems crueler. Most Christians I know are either unaware or reinterpret the verse.
I can't understand celebrating it 🤷‍♂️
