West Virginia Coach Steve Sabins goes into great detail about the Biomechanics Lab that @WVUBaseball has on campus.
“For Courtney Semkewyc it was kind of a no brainer… She’s a unicorn - PHD in Biomechanics, that’s a baseball rat, that wants to be in a dugout, and be at practice all day, and grind. You can’t just go create that person or system.”
whatever happened to sitting on a bench with your head in your hands contemplating your entire existence after an armsy smother hook? Need more of this. Everyone is too stoic
@PFTCommenter “Take Me Home, Country Roads” is about West Virginia, not “western Virginia.”
A few details that clear up the confusion:
✅ The song directly says “West Virginia, mountain mama.”
✅ The places referenced (Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River) do run through Virginia and West Virginia, but the writers have repeatedly confirmed that West Virginia was the intended state.
Fun fact: John Denver didn’t write it—Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert did. They had never even been to West Virginia when they wrote it, but they chose West Virginia because the words flowed better and evoked the feeling they wanted.
So yes—it’s West Virginia’s unofficial national anthem.
Dont die on this hill....WV will not take it lightly
@johnhanson20 But it’s hard to not get a NB Vibe when hearing some of these endorsements. Win and it’s all good … but from an overall fan perspective I think the leash will be short. Fair or not
@johnhanson20 Not hate… I’m not saying it’s a terrible hire… and I do trust Wren but there’s no way you look at this hire and get excited. Again I hope I’m wrong… I hope all of the feel good stories I’m hearing and letters of recommendation that are being given within interviews hold true.
West Virginia is working toward a deal to hire North Texas' Ross Hodge as its next head coach and it's expected to be completed in the near-future, sources told me and @PeteThamel. WVU AD Wren Baker knows Hodge from his time as North Texas AD. First reported by @MattNorlander.
